FAQ
Here are some frequently asked questions.
1.
What type of roofing system ? Factors to consider
Durability
You want a system that will last. Material such as slate
copper and standing seam metal are by far more durable than
asphalt shingles.
Cost
Everyone tries to have a budget and cost is certainly relative
to what type of material you use. But weigh the differences.
Standing seam metal may cost 20 % more initially than shingles,
but it will last 3 to 4 times longer. This would make the
standing seam metal a better value.
Aesthetics
Some people want a roof that doesn¹t leak. An architecturally
designed shingle would look okay and meet their needs. You
also have those that want a roof that not only won¹t
leak but makes a statement in appearance. A county manor home
with Vermont slate shingles with copper trim for a roof would
meet their desires.
2. Choosing a Contractor.
All contractors are not alike. You want a reputable company.

3. How long will my roof last?
Most new roof systems are designed to provide useful service
for a bout 20 years.
Some types of roofing systems offer more. Slate roofs could
last 70 years. Your metal roof could last 40 to 50 years or
longer.
The life span is determined by a number of factors; such
as climate and environmental conditions, building and roof
designs, material quality and most important -- proper application.
Your choice of roofer is very important.
